Healthcare has been listed in several polls as the key issue heading into the 2020 Democratic Primary and subsequent general election against sitting President, Donald Trump. The ten remaining Democratic candidates all have differing policy ideals when it comes to healthcare, ranging from Sanders 'Medicare for All', Joe Biden favouring "building on Obamacare" - whatever that actually means is anybody's guess - or Pete Buttigieg's 'Medicare for all who want it', which is effectively a fancy, means-tested way of saying that he's in favour of a public option. Buttigieg's whole facade is that he's the young and intelligent moderate, a young Joe Biden, supposedly. His supporters love to scream about the fact that he would be the first gay president or that his wonkish and convoluted views on policy are exactly what's needed in order to break congressional deadlock, especially on healthcare policy. During the November midterm elections Bernie Sanders' Vermont Senate seat was up for grabs and he had to fend off more challengers than usual this time around as two extremely anti-Bernie Hillary Clinton supporters wanted to put a "REAL Democrat" in the Senate but instead they failed miserably. The first of the candidates is Jon Svitavsky , an activist for the homeless population of Vermont. While this may make Jon a somewhat attractive candidate, further research shows some rather troubling statements from Svitavsky. The Democrat has labelled notable black politicians Ben Carson and Condoleeza Rice as "Oreo's" - meaning black on the outside and white on the inside. Perhaps more troubling is the fact that he states that Rice should be "hung from the neck until she dies". According to the  US National Debt Clock , a website which tracks the real-time total of many governmental figures ranging from the US National Debt/Deficit, how many Americans currently use Food Stamps or the current amount of people who are currently unemployed in the US - which currently sits at 12,420,110 people or 3.7% of the population. Even since writing that paragraph and taking the time to make a cup of tea, an additional $7M has already been added to the US Federal Budget Deficit that is pictured above, which shows just how quickly it is increasing. Whether you believe Donald Trump managed to elevate himself into the Oval Office using Russian hacking efforts - which is actually the making of awful internet memes to 'sway' voters - and evading the eyes of the numerous American intelligence agencies and managed to remain in office for nearly half of his first term or not, why on earth would you vote to give an "illegitimate president" an increased military budget? The legislation, which is called H.R 5515 or the  John S. Whenever Bernie Sanders is attacked on policy or either being supposedly racist and sexist, - still no explanation as to how - his supporters are by his side more often than not. However, two recent statements that Sanders made has drawn the ire of even his most loyal supporters. Firstly, with the subject of immigrant child separation and abolishing ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) dominating news headlines, even most centrist Democrats and Sanders supporters are united in their wishes to abolish ICE, but Sanders couldn't join the club when asked the question by Jake Tapper during a  CNN interview . When asked by Jake Tapper if he would join the calls of fellow Democrats such as Cynthia Nixon to abolish ICE, he tapped danced around the question, instead saying that Trump and Congress should work to make sure that what we see today with the separation of children and their parents is put to an end. Polls that were undertaken by polling organisation Gallup have produced some rather worrying signs for both major political parties in America and good news for smaller, lesser known parties. The polls, which were published in January 2018, show that the number of Americans who indentify as Independents has seen its largest ever increase a year out of a presidential election. As you can see pictured above, the number of Independents has been increasing sharply since Gallup's recording began pre-1989, and very rarely dipping below the numbers of Democrats or Republicans. Gallup also mentions how decreases in Independents is usually a result of people choosing to back the candidate with either a (D) or (R) next to their name as they vote for someone that resembles their ideas as closely as possible.
