Pete Buttigieg’s Healthcare Plan Is Laughably Terrible

Healthcare has been listed in several polls as the key issue heading into the 2020 Democratic Primary and subsequent general election against sitting President, Donald Trump. The ten remaining Democratic candidates all have differing policy ideals when it comes to healthcare, ranging from Sanders 'Medicare for All', Joe Biden favouring "building on Obamacare" - whatever that actually means is anybody's guess - or Pete Buttigieg's 'Medicare for all who want it', which is effectively a fancy, means-tested way of saying that he's in favour of a public option. Buttigieg's whole facade is that he's the young and intelligent moderate, a young Joe Biden, supposedly. His supporters love to scream about the fact that he would be the first gay president or that his wonkish and convoluted views on policy are exactly what's needed in order to break congressional deadlock, especially on healthcare policy. His plan - 'Medicare for all who ...

The President Is An Anti-Vaxxer

A lot can be said about the current President of the United States, Donald Trump and his basic understanding of science and scientific consensus on dividing issues such as climate change and the supposed adverse effects of vaccinations. Most responses involve ridiculing his proposterous statements. As I was reading articles detailing the recent measles and smallpox outbreaks in North Carolina, the tweet pictured above was one of the first related searches I came across and even for someone as scientifically ignorant as Donald Trump, it was honestly shocking. One American state in particular, North Carolina, known for its lawmakers controversial stances such as the so-called  ‘Bathroom Bill’ , - which has cost the state the 2017 NBA All-Star game, billions of dollars and companies such as PayPal and CoStar Group have pulled out planned expansions from the state, losing over a thousand jobs - and now their reluctance to ensure children are vaccinated has brought back the ...

Number Of Americans Who Identify As Political Independents Sees Largest Increase Ever

Polls that were undertaken by polling organisation Gallup have produced some rather worrying signs for both major political parties in America and good news for smaller, lesser known parties. The polls, which were published in January 2018, show that the number of Americans who indentify as Independents has seen its largest ever increase a year out of a presidential election. As you can see pictured above, the number of Independents has been increasing sharply since Gallup's recording began pre-1989, and very rarely dipping below the numbers of Democrats or Republicans. Gallup also mentions how decreases in Independents is usually a result of people choosing to back the candidate with either a (D) or (R) next to their name as they vote for someone that resembles their ideas as closely as possible. The large increase in Independents also spells bad news for both parties, however. Ever since Barack Obama's historical 2008 victory, the number of American Independents has bee...

Conservatives Use The Devastating Case Of Alfie Evans To Falsely Discredit Single-Payer Healthcare

Not all babies get tears from Jimmy Kimmel. Got it. #AlfieEvans pic.twitter.com/ebt48exgod — Steven Crowder (@scrowder) April 27, 2018 American conservatives such as Steven Crowder, among many others, have began using their ridiculously low level of understanding about UK healthcare and the harrowing case of 1 year old Alfie Evans in order to push back against the growing popularity of a single-payer system being implemented in the United States. Crowder has stated that "the state chose to let Alfie Evans die", which isn't the case whatsoever but that doesn't matter to people such as Steven Crowder, who has a history of lying to his audience. While Crowder pretends that the UK Government had the final say on whether or not Alfie's parents would be allowed to take him from Alder Hay Hospital in Liverpool to a hospital in Rome that had suggested it could possibly save Alfie's life, that's simply untrue. The Alfie Evans case was between doctors at ...

Marco Rubio's Hypocrisy In Two Tweets

Marco Rubio happens to be one of the more slimier, corporate Republicans, this is even after Trump fooled his voters with his "Drain The Swamp" falsehood. Pictured above, you are able to see Rubio adopting the usual Republican position when it comes to making sure people have health care, as they all hear the words "government-run" and shudder at the fact this will annoy their private industry donors, Mr. Rubio is clearly no different. Time for a quick debunking of Rubio's right-wing talking points. Firstly, the current cost of implementing the Affordable Care Act is $49 TRILLION over the next 10 years, with a Bernie Sanders style Single Payer system costing $17 Trillion LESS. So we're saving money by having a government-run system. Don't believe it? Allow sitting US Representative Ro Khanna to explain  here . A quick summary of the video could also be put into a few sentences: Khanna: Single-Payer will cost roughly $32T over the next ten years,...

Republican Rep. Complains That Obamacare Covers Rehab & Maternity Care

GOP Rep. Brian Babin from Texas recently appeared on Washington Watch Radio Show, a conservative radio show hosted by Tony Perkins, a failed politician who believes that natural disasters occur because God is punishing us for LGBT acceptance. Perkins must be harbouring some in-the-closet beliefs as his house was destroyed in a flood in August 2016, the word you're looking for is irony. He has also suggested critique of Barack Obama's birth certificate was "legitimate" and remarking that "it makes sense" that Obama was a Muslim - so we're dealing with a real bright crowd here.  Representative Babin, showing a complete disregard for facts and evidence, claimed that most people were against the Affordable Care Act at the time it was passed and that the people want to "get rid of this thing" now that "we've had a taste of socialized medicine" - except, the ACA isn't quite socialized medicine now is it, Brian? Socialized med...
