Political commentator and Team Trump professional bullshitter Jeffrey Lord decided to compare Donald Trump to Martin Luther King Jr - yes we are comparing a man who brags of grabbing women's private parts to a champion of the fight for civil rights - Lord actually gets paid by CNN to defend Trump, but who even thinks of this crap? "Think of President Trump as the Martin Luther King of health care," Mr Lord somehow saying this with a straight face as he defends Trump's action of attempting to take away Obamacare subsides from the poor. How noble of him.
Martin Luther King Jr is a hero whose fight for equality ended up costing him his life, a man who used non-violent protest in order to promote the voices of the people who were treated as being unequal. This is a man who was at the forefront of a revolution on the way we perceive the issue of race and working towards ending the suffering of African Americans who were treated as sub-human simply for being born with darker skin, a true hero.
According to Jeffrey Lord, we have to compare this to Donald f*cking Trump? A man born with a silver spoon in his mouth, - knowing Trump it was most probably a gold spoon - has had six bankruptcies while bragging about how business savvy he is and has also just two short weeks ago settled a $25 million lawsuit against his scam of a university. I'm sorry, but I can't see the comparison here.
Now, to be fair, Lord was comparing the way in which Trump is trying to initiate a replacement of Obamacare to deliver what he assumes are fairer costs and a higher rate of coverage to the American people to how Martin Luther King Jr fought for civil rights. Although even this is bogus as what Trump has essentially done is create a lawsuit that will financially cripple the health insurance market by cutting the subsidies that are used to lower the costs people end up paying for their care. Basically the federal government pays the subsidies straight to the health insurance companies which can in turn lower the cost of Obamacare components such as the copayments and deductibles. Removing this however could mean that both health insurance companies and the people receiving the subsidies are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to insurance costs.
The focal point of the lawsuit that Trump has proposed will cut off an estimated $7 billion, the amount payed out by the federal government in 2016, in subsidies to private healthcare insurance companies which will cause the health insurance market, Obamacare and the people who receive the financial aid to suffer as companies will have to leverage profit margins against delivering care to people who are already struggling to afford healthcare payments as these particular subsidies are aimed at people who make around $30,000 a year or less per individual, while about seven million people are estimated to obtain the subsidies, which equates to a rough average of $1,000 per person.
Trump is shooting himself in the foot however, as people who will be affected by the cuts are lower income people and those who use these subsidies in order to afford health insurance will be seen as bargaining chips as Trump wants Democrats to bring their healthcare ideas to the table to replace Obamacare, because, you know, who doesn't want to have their health insurance subsidies used as ammunition for Trump's piss-poor health care plans, I can only imagine how worthless they feel.
If you read through this and even remotely think that the way Trump is forcefully removing health insurance subsidies is even close to how Martin Luther King Jr used non-violence, people power and protest to bring change to the African American community, then I regret to inform you that you're an idiot, as is professional CNN bullshitter Jeffrey Lord.
I personally fail to see the resemblance somehow.
