Should critique of First Ladies and Family Members be off limits?

Family members and spouses are often pulled into the political battleground as their significant others begin the journey of hopefully becoming President of the United States. This is something we see occur frequently because of affiliation to the candidate rather than matching political beliefs, as close family are seen as responsible for the rise of a political figure that they don't agree with - as we see with right-wingers holding animosity against Michelle Obama because her husband Barack is 'coming to take our guns and put us in FEMA Camps', supposedly.

Whether the hopeful Presidential candidate is Democrat or Republican, there have been numerous tasteless jabs at politicians families and spouses who are merely along for the ride, this including 2016 defeated Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders wife Jane Sanders. Mrs Sanders was the target of several pro-Hillary and Trump-supporting twitter accounts who decided that she needed to be taken down a peg and rather than disagree with her political stance, it was ultimately decided to ridicule Jane about the way she looks. I guess nothing shows those sexist 'BernieBro's' like targeting another woman based on nothing else but how pleasing on the eye they happen to find her.

However, it would be irresponsible to say this particular issue is only being perpetrated by a single group, it happens to be a universal issue in the current political climate. Sitting President Donald Trump has also had his family and significant other become the focus of such attacks within a week of winning the election, Anti-Trump protestors decided to overstep the mark when showing their feelings toward the new President and displayed a "Rape Melania" sign, it seems some people are more hateful than what they're protesting against.

A minority of liberals also decided to tear down Trump's son, Barron, on the basis of supposedly being autistic, no evidence or thought were put into the assumptions in the hope of getting to Trump - fact-less speculation that Alex Jones and Infowars would be proud of. Whether or not Barron happens to be autistic is no reason to thrust an 11 year old into the spotlight simply because you do not agree with Donald's political positions. Adding further insult to the Trump children, Saturday Night Live writer Katie Rich decided to stoop as low as she could to call Barron Trump "this country's first home school shooter." Stay classy, Katie.

Perhaps the more targeted and vicious attempts at showing your unhappiness towards Former President Barack Obama was, in the case of Alex Jones and Infowars, to label his wife Michelle Obama "the First Tranny" as, according to Jones, Michelle has a larger body frame which he's never seen on a black woman before, I guess we are now using what Alex has or hasn't seen rather than facts in order to prove a statement as racially charged as this. Another member of the Right-Wing Nut Club, Pat Robertson, has also decided to share his 'extremely credible' opinion on Michelle Obama and also showing his monumental hypocrisy when claiming Michelle doesn't "look or act like a First Lady" as she is pictured wearing a sleeveless dress showing her bare arms, how dare she not cover her arms! Now when Melania Trump's integrity is called into question after posing nude while modelling, Pat claimed that her pictures are "pure art that shows the beauty of God's work." Nope, no double standard here, lets move on.
The amount of irony that goes through hopefully a small minority of peoples minds is alarming, these particular idiotic human beings can throw around insults about someone on the other political 'team' like there is no tomorrow, but if you decide to criticise their beloved, idolized leader suddenly criticism is no longer allowed, to some, you're allowed to talk about how Bernie Sanders is really a dirty Jewish communist, but if you speak negatively about Donald Trump you all of a sudden become "FAKE NEWS".

Regardless of political belief we should all draw a line in the sand when it comes to attacking First Ladies or family members simply for holding different views than you, attack their policy position and substance rather than deciding that it's okay to call someone's child intellectually disabled or bring a presidential hopefuls wife looks into the discussion.

MSNBC Host Lawrence O'Donnell Explains How The Democratic Party Treats The Left

MSNBC's "The Last Word" host Lawrence O'Donnell describes his politics as a "practical European socialist", which essentially boils down to being a nordic-style social democrat, usually in favour of a mixed economy with a generous welfare state and has defended his positions on MSNBC news shows that typically frown upon stepping outside the neoliberal bubble. O'Donnell is no progressive hero in the context of american politics, sometimes scolding progressive politicians whenever they mildly criticize the Democratic Party, such as when Bernie Sanders tweeted about having to take on the Democratic establishment as well as Republicans, O'Donnell decided to concern troll Sanders by claiming that the Democratic establishment wouldn't pass Sanders' proposals if he wasn't nice to them. Over the course of the last few months an old video of O'Donnell explaining how to move the Democratic Party further left and how the party treats the p...

MSNBC News Caught Faking Poll Numbers To Elevate Biden Above Bernie Sanders

If you were to believe recent polling figures in regards to the Democratic Primaries, Joe Biden is by far and away one of the most popular political figures in America, with his 2020 poll numbers giving him a 37 and 32 point lead over Bernie Sanders in the recent past. There has however been issues with some of the polls that have been undertaken and given Joe Biden his huge lead, such as the one pictured above, which shows Bernie leading Biden by 2% (27%-25%) among non-white voters, but you wouldn’t know that if you watched the MSNBC segment regarding the poll, in which Biden magically gains three percentage points in order to go ahead of Bernie in these demographics. Here’s another poll (CNN) that was used in order to show Sanders “plummeting support” and as you can see the poll includes zero respondents of anyone under the age of fifty. The problem being that Sanders base of support is largely made up of younger voters, so to not include any in a poll on Sanders is simply di...

Why The Labour Party Lost The UK Election

Whichever way you approach the recent UK election, it would be fair to say that the Labour Party experienced a drubbing, resulting in a loss of 60 seats and handing the Conservative Party a large parliamentary majority. There has however been a fierce debate surrounding the reasons for Labour’s defeat, reasons ranging from Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn himself or supposedly racist voters. This debate has deeply spilt the two main factions of the Labour Party, between moderates and progressives. Blairites vs Corbynistas if you will. Moderates place the blame solely at the feet of Jeremy Corbyn, his supposed anti-semitism and poor electability. Progressives see this defeat as a result of a Brexit backlash with many Leave voters leaving the Labour Party while the Conservative Party had one core message: “Get Brexit Done” which seemingly resonated. It is fair to suggest that Corbyn’s popularity isn’t exactly soaring, with the mere mention of his name bringing about a whole range of different...
