Debunking The Lies Surrounding Jeremy Corbyn

In only two days time the people of the U.K. will go to the polling stations and vote for their parliamentary representatives and a Prime Minister will be elected. The Labour party have a manifesto over 120 economists agree with, while the Conservatives spend more time saying "strong and stable leadership" and spreading defamatory comments about Jeremy Corbyn rather than than tell the nation about their policies, let's go through the defamatory comments and see if they hold any weight.

Jeremy Corbyn is a supporter of the IRA.
This is false. Sure you can find pictures of Gerry Adams and Corbyn together, however this was only after he became an elected MP in 1983 - political visit as opposed to a personal visit. The Times newspaper apologised for trying to smear Corbyn in 1987, claiming he paid an IRA member £45 who was fleeing British police, Jeremy Corbyn also reported the incident to the police as soon as he was made aware of the situation. Corbyn has also met Northern Irish Loyalist leaders such as David Ervine, Gary McMichael and Rev. Ian Paisley - proving he spoke to both sides in order to get the ball rolling in terms of a peace process and ceasefire.

Times Apology To Corbyn For False Allegations

Jeremy Corbyn wants increased immigration and open borders.
The trick here is to suggest "controlled migration" can be spun into "Corbyn wants to let millions into the country and terrorists will enter!" Even if we neglect the previous Conservative missed targets of "below 100,000" net migration - to suggest this about Corbyn is doing a disservice to true political debate with falsehoods. All parties standing in this election want to control immigration - some more extremely than others - but Corbyn recognises that we need an increase of qualified nurses and teachers, with hopes of educated students immigrating to the U.K. to fill these gaps.

Jeremy Corbyn thinks there is a magic money tree to fund his policies.
This example of the Conservatives disinformation is probably the most ironic of them all. Notice how it becomes a "magic money tree" when it is something for YOU, but when POLITICIANS want a 11% (2015) and 1.3% (Apr 2017) pay increase while imposing a 1% cap on public sector pay increases, £29 Billion spent in Afghanistan and Iraq - £35 Billion on wars since the 1989 Berlin Wall fell - we have a money tree for that, but how dare this man want people on the lower rungs of the economic ladder who work several hours a week to earn enough so they can put food on the table.. does Jeremy have any shame!?

Jeremy Corbyn's Manifesto figures "do not add up."
Theresa May tried this line at a debate and literally got laughed at by the audience. If only we knew how much her manifesto would cost. Recently a letter was signed by over 120 economists suggesting that the Labour Manifesto could be just what this country needs - but sure lets listen to Dave from Wigan tell us why it doesn't add up and Corbyn is a loony lefty - I think I will side with the 120 economists - sorry Dave. For years, we've been told to "tighten our belts" and "live within our means" by politicians who have done the exact opposite. You have to tighten your belt and find a way to feed your children while MP's get pay rises and funnel their money into offshore tax havens.

Jeremy Corbyn is unelectable - his own party dislike him!
Yes, some of the members of the Labour Shadow Cabinet have tried to oust Jeremy Corbyn as their leader - but is that the fault of those complaining or Jeremy himself? - Labour have already tried the Diet-Tory or Tory-lite option, trying to seem like the wise moderate party everyone can agree with. Trying to move the Labour Party into the centre of the political spectrum under Tony Blair and Ed Milliband worked out well didn't it? What it led to was a vast amount of people becoming disinterested in politics and utter the now memorable phrase: "All politicians are the same, only care about themselves and the rich." Along comes Jeremy Corbyn, a man who cares about the issues and being principled in his beliefs, a man who gives people a reason to watch Question Time or Prime Ministers Questions and gets people excited about actual change to their lives as opposed to being told that we "have to make tough choices."

Following US politics since the middle of Barack Obama's second term (2012), I have heard all these lines before about a politician who dares to try move a party to the left: Bernie Sanders. He has dealt with attacks from his own Democratic Party and the Republicans for daring to stand up for policies like Single-Payer Health Care, essentially wanting to create an American NHS. Just like Bernie has the Democratic Establishment to fight; Corbyn has the Labour Establishment up against him. Jeremy Corbyn has been elected as Labour Leader by Supporters and Members twice - receiving 59.48% in 2015 and 61.85% in 2016 - Corbyn is popular among the people, but not his party's Establishment, just like Bernie Sanders. Oh and before you think Sanders is unpopular with the Democrats because of his political beliefs, polls consistently show that Sanders is the most popular active politician in America.

MSNBC Host Lawrence O'Donnell Explains How The Democratic Party Treats The Left

MSNBC's "The Last Word" host Lawrence O'Donnell describes his politics as a "practical European socialist", which essentially boils down to being a nordic-style social democrat, usually in favour of a mixed economy with a generous welfare state and has defended his positions on MSNBC news shows that typically frown upon stepping outside the neoliberal bubble. O'Donnell is no progressive hero in the context of american politics, sometimes scolding progressive politicians whenever they mildly criticize the Democratic Party, such as when Bernie Sanders tweeted about having to take on the Democratic establishment as well as Republicans, O'Donnell decided to concern troll Sanders by claiming that the Democratic establishment wouldn't pass Sanders' proposals if he wasn't nice to them. Over the course of the last few months an old video of O'Donnell explaining how to move the Democratic Party further left and how the party treats the p...

MSNBC News Caught Faking Poll Numbers To Elevate Biden Above Bernie Sanders

If you were to believe recent polling figures in regards to the Democratic Primaries, Joe Biden is by far and away one of the most popular political figures in America, with his 2020 poll numbers giving him a 37 and 32 point lead over Bernie Sanders in the recent past. There has however been issues with some of the polls that have been undertaken and given Joe Biden his huge lead, such as the one pictured above, which shows Bernie leading Biden by 2% (27%-25%) among non-white voters, but you wouldn’t know that if you watched the MSNBC segment regarding the poll, in which Biden magically gains three percentage points in order to go ahead of Bernie in these demographics. Here’s another poll (CNN) that was used in order to show Sanders “plummeting support” and as you can see the poll includes zero respondents of anyone under the age of fifty. The problem being that Sanders base of support is largely made up of younger voters, so to not include any in a poll on Sanders is simply di...

Why The Labour Party Lost The UK Election

Whichever way you approach the recent UK election, it would be fair to say that the Labour Party experienced a drubbing, resulting in a loss of 60 seats and handing the Conservative Party a large parliamentary majority. There has however been a fierce debate surrounding the reasons for Labour’s defeat, reasons ranging from Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn himself or supposedly racist voters. This debate has deeply spilt the two main factions of the Labour Party, between moderates and progressives. Blairites vs Corbynistas if you will. Moderates place the blame solely at the feet of Jeremy Corbyn, his supposed anti-semitism and poor electability. Progressives see this defeat as a result of a Brexit backlash with many Leave voters leaving the Labour Party while the Conservative Party had one core message: “Get Brexit Done” which seemingly resonated. It is fair to suggest that Corbyn’s popularity isn’t exactly soaring, with the mere mention of his name bringing about a whole range of different...
