Several women made headlines in recent days as they accused far-right, suspended Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama, Roy Moore, of engaging in unwanted sexual activities with them when they were aged 14 and upwards, when Moore was aged 32-34. As Moore hopes to become a Senator from Alabama, these allegations are seen to have come at, what some Republicans and their supporters see, is a rather opportune time as an attempt to prevent Moore from reaching the Senate. However, this was the exact same defense that was used for the allegations against Donald Trump prior to the 2016 Presidential Election, with his allegations ranging from 1980 with Jessica Leeds, who claimed Trump tried to grope her on a flight to New York, to 2013 Miss Washington USA, Cassandra Searles in 2013.
Now, whether or not you believe the countless amount of allegations that were made, the "liberal media attack" platitude, as Roy Moore stated, is beginning to become stale and is now being seen as more of a cliche to attach the blame to other people. In Trump's case, there was even an audiotape of him, the now infamous access hollywood tape that Trump described as "locker room talk", which it simply wasn't.
The other rather worrying aspect of the avalanche of the sexual assault allegations that have emerged recently is how vehemently they have been denied by Republican voters and those in Congress who stand behind Moore. As Mitch McConnell called on Moore to drop out of the race, he accused McConnell of trying to steal the election, because the Republican Majority Leader would obviously prefer to see a Democrat elected. Nothing, nothing whatsoever could change their minds as these very voters buy into the 'everything bad that is mentioned about a Republican or the political ideology as a whole is simply a smear from Liberals' defensive mechanism, simply because of who the blame happens to fall upon, not if the allegations have any merit to them - the libs are going after one of us, and Republicans are good by definition so they have to be innocent. It's an 'Us vs Them' mentality.
This Right-Wing denial is also found in the higher reaches of the White House with Kellyanne Conway, Counselor to President Donald Trump, today stating that the Republican Party needs Roy Moore in the Senate in order to have enough votes to pass the President's Tax Proposal and the rest of his agenda, this coming less than a week from when Conway conversely stated that "no Senate seat is worth more than a child" after the outpouring of sexual assault allegations against Roy Moore. During an interview with Fox & Friends, Kellyanne decided to slam Moore's Democratic opponent, Doug Jones. Conway stated "Doug Jones in Alabama, folks, don't be fooled. He will be a vote against tax cuts. He is weak on crime. Weak on borders. He is strong on raising your taxes. He is terrible for property owners." Ah yes, Kellyanne, the poor property owners and rich people paying taxes. A few innocent children being sexually assaulted is a less pressing issue than passing a political agenda to Kellyanne it seems. I guess Senate seats are much more valuable than children, nothing hypocritical to see here folks.
As for the pure shining beacon of humanity that is Eric Dondero (pictured above), a quick look at his social media activity would result in you losing a few brain cells at the very least. To boil his thoughts into a simple sentence, the result would look something like this: Because I'm a Republican, I will stand by any party official who is, in this case, accused of sexual assault, meanwhile I shall constantly suggest that the recent Al Franken sexual assault allegations are 100 percent true because he's a Democrat and we all know Democrats are vile beings. Or, in Mr Dondero's words, "Democrats are even worse than child molestors."
