Progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Defeats Corporate Democrat And 'Journalists' Don't Even Know Her Name
Following the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez political rise ever since she joined Justice Democrats and actually knowing how hard she has fought to represent New York's 14th District despite going up against one of the most powerful Democrats in the country, Joe Crowley, who had campaign contributions from all of the large corporations you've ever heard of: Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Major League Baseball, Sony, Home Depot and State Farm are just some among hundreds of monumental corporate bodies, this was a victory which sent principled progressives into a whirlwind of positive emotions.
To some, such as liberal political insiders and Democratic lawmakers, Ocasio-Cortez's name wasn't one they had even heard of before. Joe Crowley was seen as that much of a sure thing that partisan Democrats and prominent so-called journalists never even bothered learning his opponents name. Here's what Associated Press called Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

"Young challenger".. yikes. Furthermore, one of the Democrats most loyal defenders, Joy Reid, who will begin to attack should you even dare shift leftwards politically, stated that Crowley's defeat was that much of a shock that her and most of "political journalism" would need to undertake an Ocasio-Cortez crash course. Well, if you don't even know a candidates name, are you even a political journalist? An awful one perhaps.
Ridiculous criticism of Alexandria has begun to arrive from both sides of the isle however - I say this as Nancy Pelosi describes Cortez's victory as an "isolated incident" - but newspapers such as The Washington Times and New York Post have begun to fearmonger about her and the belief she has in Democratic Socialism, using the word socialism as one to incite fear in both liberals and conservatives, even using the term "RED SCARE" which is defined as 'promotion of widespread fear by a society or state about a potential rise of communism, anarchism or radical leftism'.
As someone who would describe themselves as a Democratic Socialist, or by having the government use tax dollars to fund social programmes that would give it's countries citizens the means of a minimum standard of living and an increased opportunity to move up the economic ladder - people are right to be scared. This is because there are many people much more radical in their beliefs than I am, socialists, anarchists, libertarian socialists and communists who are rejecting the two major American political parties.
Perhaps the worst take when considering Alexandria Ocasio Cortez's recent victory comes from The Washington Times who labelled her an "enemy of America" and using the word socialist to generate fear amongst their readers. This article ended up getting torn to shreds by the Left instead. This is how the article begins: "Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America - a socialist - and she just won a congressional primary in New York", why does the Washington Times feel the need to mention the fact that Ocasio is a socialist twice within the same sentence? Well, it's the red scare. According to The Washington Times, socialism and the Constitution are "incompatible" with one another, which is laughable. To find out just how laughable it is, read this The Constitutional Case For Democratic Socialism article.
The Washington Times is an extremely conservative newspaper which has previously dabbled in climate change denial, saying that a NASA Scientist had claimed that global warming was on a "hiatus" and that in actual fact NASA was holding on to evidence of "global cooling". Now, of course, a subsequent investigation found that the NASA employee had said that exact opposite.
The paper has also published articles promoting the conspiracy theory that Seth Rich, a DNC staffer who had been murdered, was responsible for leaking the Clinton emails in 2016. Seth's brother, Aaron Rich, has since filed a lawsuit against The Washington Times. They also suggest that Barack Obama was actually born in Kenya and is a Muslim, neither of which are true, but that's conservatism for you.
