The Democratic Party have seemingly decided against being the party of the average, everyday American and have instead chosen to represent the fossil fuel industry in a shocking turn of events. Just kidding, this is exactly who the Democratic Party are and have been for a long time.
Way, way back in June 2018, The Hill reported that Democrats would no longer accept donations from fossil fuel companies. The motion was introduced by Christine Pelosi, a member of the Democratic National Committee and daughter of House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), this was a proposal that would galvanise both progressives and environmental advocates.
The proposal went after fossil fuel corporations, stating: "Fossil fuel corporations are drowning our democracy in a tidal wave of dark oily money; they have deceived the public about the impact of climate change, fought the growth of clean renewable energy and corrupted our political system."
DNC Chairman Tom Perez stated that the reversal was in order to support organised labour and the workers within fossil fuel industries who donate and organise for Democratic candidates, but environmental advocates and Bernie Sanders supporters have called on Democrats to reinstate the ban on fossil fuel donations.
20 groups have signed a letter asking the DNC , including Greenpeace, 350 Action and People for Bernie to reinstate the ban on such donations as they aim to push both the Democratic Party and America as a whole towards a system of clean, renewable energy such as solar and wind power.
I believe that former DNC Treasurer, Andrew Tobias, said it best during a speech he gave at his resignation: "He's (Bill Darrow) an amazing success, he's exactly the person who can go to rich business folks and explain to them why it's the Democratic Party under which they will make the most money and succeed and by the way, give some of it to us." - Democrats have been corporatists for a long time, and there is no change in sight.

When Andrew Tobias stepped down as DNC Treasurer earlier this year he chose "Bill" Derrough an Investment Banker to be his replacement. Apparently Bill is really good at hitting people up for money 🤷♀️ #NothingIsChanging #JoinTheMovement @4aPeoplesParty pic.twitter.com/5Gn8EXrggg— Gina (@scaredpair) December 6, 2017
