Rick Joyner is just another conservative fundamentalist christian among a plethora of like-minded televangelists who have made ridiculous statements about President Trump's time in office. Joyner has a history of simply being wrong, roughly two years ago he claimed to have done some math and has worked out that since earth is '6,000' years old, this coincides with the first six days of the week, which means God is coming back on the seventh day or the sabbath. Essentially claiming that God was returning soon.
However, Mr. Joyner may have outdone himself in this particular instance as he claims that abortion and sin are to blame for Hurricane Florence, not climate change.
Hurricane Florence was a Category 4 major hurricane with winds reaching 130 miles per hour and lasted two weeks, from the end of August to the middle of September. The hurricane is reported to have caused 55 deaths in the United States, including a three-month-old baby dying due to a tree crushing a mobile home and a one-year-old child drowned after the mother drove onto a flooded road, she survived after being rescued but the child unfortunately passed.
Joyner posted a video to his Facebook page in which he tried defending Donald Trump after reading a "crazy" Washington Post article which questioned Trump's policies in order to combat such events.
"They were literally saying, He has to take the blame for this storm because of his belief on climate change - all this does is make the climate change people look like bigger nuts than ever", Joyner claimed, without a single hint of irony.
The televangelist then moved onto the go-to excuse that people like him use for things they can't explain - abortion and sin cause natural disasters, which are sent by God as a punishment.
"More than dumping to much carbon dioxide into the air or anything else, the scripture makes it clear what causes these things. It is sin. Sin, which is clearly defined in scripture. One of the worst things we could do to bring a curse on a nation is the shedding of innocent blood. What could be more innocent than the unborn? And look at what America is doing."
I'm sure Rick Joyner truly cares about innocent people being killed, right? Well, a quick internet search has unveiled his demonisation of muslims, stating that both ISIS and Islam in general is at war with the West and the Quran "enslaves" Muslims. With this in mind, it must be obvious to assume that Joyner opposes regime change and wars in the Middle East and condemns the killing of innocent people overseas, right?
