MSNBC's Chris Matthews: Bernie Wouldn't Help You After A Car Accident, But Biden Would

Bernie Sanders supporters have a multitude of criticisms of cable news shows, ranging from them being the supposed gatekeepers of the establishment to the networks being in cahoots with the corporate interests that fund their shows, hence the apprehension to actual progressive politics and the likelihood of both a higher tax bill and losing of their stranglehold on American politics.

Chris Matthews, host of 'Hardball' on MSNBC is one of the premier anti-Sanders pundits on what is considered the premier anti-Sanders news network. Matthews has previously asked Joe Biden surrogate John Kerry "how big of a threat would Bernie Sanders be to the country?"

However, Matthews has well and truly outdone himself now. While Matthews was on another MSNBC show, Morning Joe, he proposed the ridiculous question of which Democratic Primary candidate would get out of their car and help you should you be involved in a car accident.

Matthews stated: "It's sort of like the question pollsters ask, 'who cares about people like you', my question is a little bit more direct than that. Suppose you're lying on a road hurt, maybe you've had something happen to you, you fainted or something else happened, which of the candidates would stop their car and get out and help you? Which of them? Ask yourself that question and you've got your candidate, I think, because I'm not sure on all of them. I think Biden wins that one pretty easily, I think Elizabeth [Warren] maybe, I don't think Bernie wins it, do you honestly think Bernie would stop and help you?"

In steps Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough to state that he thinks Bernie would help, to which Matthews snickers, claims that Scarborough was "covering for himself" and laughs to himself.

What Chris Matthews doesn't understand is that there is real world empirical data that debunks his ludicrous thought experiment. Some pollsters, when asking for people's preferred choice in the Democratic Primary, also ask questions like the one Matthews mentioned - Who cares the most about you?

What are the responses to that question? Let's look at the most recent CNN poll in which Sanders surprised everybody when it was announced that he was leading by 3%. When people were asked which candidate best understands the problems facing people like you, Sanders won resoundingly, 29% to Biden's 18%. Sanders also wins when people are asked who agrees with you most on the issues that matter most to you? Sanders wins again, 30% to Biden's 20%.

Matthews is also seemingly unaware of what happened to Sanders in 2018. Sanders stopped and helped a woman who was stuck in oncoming traffic after she was enamored with seeing him. Wheelchair user Amy Currotto said that she was in awe of seeing Sanders and completely froze while in the middle of oncoming traffic. Sanders shouted to Currotto: "Ma'am! Ma'am! Ma'am, you've got to get off the street! You've got to get off the street!" She claimed that she was in "complete awe" while Sanders attempted to get her to safety. Sanders then took a photo and spoke to Curotto, before he ran to the Senate building after noticing that a crowd had started to form to see him. Curotto had planned to ask Sanders if he was planning on running for President again in 2020, which we now know he is.

To be completely honest, I personally think any one of the Democratic candidates would stop to help someone in distress. I truly don't see this as a partisan issue and believe that all of them would help because they're just fine, normal people who I happen to disagree with on policy. Then again, I'm not a extremely wealthy hack news host who has to say stupid things such as this in order to defend my class interests.

MSNBC Host Lawrence O'Donnell Explains How The Democratic Party Treats The Left

MSNBC's "The Last Word" host Lawrence O'Donnell describes his politics as a "practical European socialist", which essentially boils down to being a nordic-style social democrat, usually in favour of a mixed economy with a generous welfare state and has defended his positions on MSNBC news shows that typically frown upon stepping outside the neoliberal bubble. O'Donnell is no progressive hero in the context of american politics, sometimes scolding progressive politicians whenever they mildly criticize the Democratic Party, such as when Bernie Sanders tweeted about having to take on the Democratic establishment as well as Republicans, O'Donnell decided to concern troll Sanders by claiming that the Democratic establishment wouldn't pass Sanders' proposals if he wasn't nice to them. Over the course of the last few months an old video of O'Donnell explaining how to move the Democratic Party further left and how the party treats the p...

MSNBC News Caught Faking Poll Numbers To Elevate Biden Above Bernie Sanders

If you were to believe recent polling figures in regards to the Democratic Primaries, Joe Biden is by far and away one of the most popular political figures in America, with his 2020 poll numbers giving him a 37 and 32 point lead over Bernie Sanders in the recent past. There has however been issues with some of the polls that have been undertaken and given Joe Biden his huge lead, such as the one pictured above, which shows Bernie leading Biden by 2% (27%-25%) among non-white voters, but you wouldn’t know that if you watched the MSNBC segment regarding the poll, in which Biden magically gains three percentage points in order to go ahead of Bernie in these demographics. Here’s another poll (CNN) that was used in order to show Sanders “plummeting support” and as you can see the poll includes zero respondents of anyone under the age of fifty. The problem being that Sanders base of support is largely made up of younger voters, so to not include any in a poll on Sanders is simply di...

Why The Labour Party Lost The UK Election

Whichever way you approach the recent UK election, it would be fair to say that the Labour Party experienced a drubbing, resulting in a loss of 60 seats and handing the Conservative Party a large parliamentary majority. There has however been a fierce debate surrounding the reasons for Labour’s defeat, reasons ranging from Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn himself or supposedly racist voters. This debate has deeply spilt the two main factions of the Labour Party, between moderates and progressives. Blairites vs Corbynistas if you will. Moderates place the blame solely at the feet of Jeremy Corbyn, his supposed anti-semitism and poor electability. Progressives see this defeat as a result of a Brexit backlash with many Leave voters leaving the Labour Party while the Conservative Party had one core message: “Get Brexit Done” which seemingly resonated. It is fair to suggest that Corbyn’s popularity isn’t exactly soaring, with the mere mention of his name bringing about a whole range of different...
