What Happens When A Prominent Figure Endorses Bernie Sanders For President?

Detractors of 2020 Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders often point to his online supporters and their apparent harassment of people on Twitter. You often hear the phrase "I like Bernie, I support his policies, but his supporters really put me off." This has been a running theme since the 2016 election with constant focus on supposed 'Bernie Bros' apparently harassing anyone who dare say a bad word about him.

For the majority of the time it follows a very similar pattern. Sanders is constantly criticised, sometimes fairly of course, but the majority of time you'll find it to be a prominent liberal saying something outlandish about Sanders, claiming him to be a russian plant, a sexist, racist, having policies that 'only benefit straight white people', a communist and is repeatedly compared to Trump. This is when Sanders supporters push back, this is the supposed 'harassment' - responding to bad faith criticism such as Sanders being compared to Donald Trump because he promises to do rallies and bring people into the political process should he become president. Then comes the "Bernie Bros are harassing me in my mentions!"

Sanders recently gained two high-profile endorsements, progressive Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal and popular online creator Hannah Hart. We should have a look at the responses to their announcements and see how a Sanders endorsement is seen in centrist liberal circles.

Firstly Jayapal, the Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, endorsed Sanders the other day, what were the reactions? Of course there were several conservatives screaming "BUT VENEZUELA!!!" which is expected. Then you get to the supporters of other Democratic candidates, and after a cursory scroll through the replies blasting Sanders as misogynist because he once said "old bitch" and another claiming that Sanders supporters are just comprised of bots with the hashtag #BotsForBernie, another claiming "I'm voting for someone a bit younger and healthier" and a ton of "no thanks, I'm still with Joe!"

As for Hannah Hart's endorsement announcement, it's a lot more positive thankfully, until you come to the 'more replies' section and out comes the "fu*k Bernie and his bros, I'm disappointed in you Hannah".

Another of Sanders' recent high profile announcements was supermodel Emily Ratajkowski. Among the comments were supposed liberals telling her to "stick to magazine covers", another comment claiming "he helped elect Trump!" Then out of the woodwork pops an Elizabeth Warren supporter claiming "he's too big of a forever victim, claiming everyone, especially dems are mean to him, enough of that sh*t in Trump. #PresidentElizabethWarren".

Maybe, just maybe it's the case that every candidate running has obnoxious supporters? Are Bernie supporters perfect? Of course not. But to pretend that all other campaigns have been extremely civil and respectful of their Democratic rivals is truly laughable.

Let's check in with the totally civil and respectful Democrats shall we?

What wonderful, civil and respectful people who clearly just disagree with Sanders on the issues, right?

Tell me more about Bernie Bros, please.

MSNBC Host Lawrence O'Donnell Explains How The Democratic Party Treats The Left

MSNBC's "The Last Word" host Lawrence O'Donnell describes his politics as a "practical European socialist", which essentially boils down to being a nordic-style social democrat, usually in favour of a mixed economy with a generous welfare state and has defended his positions on MSNBC news shows that typically frown upon stepping outside the neoliberal bubble. O'Donnell is no progressive hero in the context of american politics, sometimes scolding progressive politicians whenever they mildly criticize the Democratic Party, such as when Bernie Sanders tweeted about having to take on the Democratic establishment as well as Republicans, O'Donnell decided to concern troll Sanders by claiming that the Democratic establishment wouldn't pass Sanders' proposals if he wasn't nice to them. Over the course of the last few months an old video of O'Donnell explaining how to move the Democratic Party further left and how the party treats the p

MSNBC News Caught Faking Poll Numbers To Elevate Biden Above Bernie Sanders

If you were to believe recent polling figures in regards to the Democratic Primaries, Joe Biden is by far and away one of the most popular political figures in America, with his 2020 poll numbers giving him a 37 and 32 point lead over Bernie Sanders in the recent past. There has however been issues with some of the polls that have been undertaken and given Joe Biden his huge lead, such as the one pictured above, which shows Bernie leading Biden by 2% (27%-25%) among non-white voters, but you wouldn’t know that if you watched the MSNBC segment regarding the poll, in which Biden magically gains three percentage points in order to go ahead of Bernie in these demographics. Here’s another poll (CNN) that was used in order to show Sanders “plummeting support” and as you can see the poll includes zero respondents of anyone under the age of fifty. The problem being that Sanders base of support is largely made up of younger voters, so to not include any in a poll on Sanders is simply di

Why The Labour Party Lost The UK Election

Whichever way you approach the recent UK election, it would be fair to say that the Labour Party experienced a drubbing, resulting in a loss of 60 seats and handing the Conservative Party a large parliamentary majority. There has however been a fierce debate surrounding the reasons for Labour’s defeat, reasons ranging from Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn himself or supposedly racist voters. This debate has deeply spilt the two main factions of the Labour Party, between moderates and progressives. Blairites vs Corbynistas if you will. Moderates place the blame solely at the feet of Jeremy Corbyn, his supposed anti-semitism and poor electability. Progressives see this defeat as a result of a Brexit backlash with many Leave voters leaving the Labour Party while the Conservative Party had one core message: “Get Brexit Done” which seemingly resonated. It is fair to suggest that Corbyn’s popularity isn’t exactly soaring, with the mere mention of his name bringing about a whole range of different
